Air Traffic in LA!! Contest!

Ever heard of Air Traffic? You will..

Air Traffic's Fractured Life is quickly building momentum with its
brilliantly brutal mood music. After climbing to #1 on the Specialty
Album chart, they have also just re-entered the Top 100 Itunes “Next
Big Thing” album chart. Their music is also currently being featured
on The Hills, One Tree Hill and Kyle XY. As an unlikely product of
Bournemouth, UK, the group's singer, Chris Wall was initially fed
musically by his Celtic roots. Both his parents are Irish born and
bred, and his uncle, Jimmy McCarthy, who still lives in Cork, is a
well known folk singer. Wall met his bandmates (drummer David Jordan,
bassist Jim Maddock, guitarist Tom Pritchard) and while still in
school. It all happened during the academic year when they were up in
London, ostensibly studying, in reality, investing their student loans
in rehearsal and recording time.

After the band were signed to Astralwerks/EMI, Air Traffic set up in
Rockfield Studios to begin working on their new album. Soon
thereafter, Wall heard of a friend’s loss via news of a fatal car
crash,“I could feel the grief, and the sense of helplessness was
overwhelming.” This swiftly inspired the album's most poignant and
beautiful moment, the aching piano ballad, “Empty Space.” The two
month Rockfield experience was, overall, cathartic. "It made us focus
on what we do, and also appreciate how different we are from other
bands." In a world in which it is increasingly easy to confuse things
that sound urgent with things that are actually important, Air Traffic
are, triumphantly, both.

Now, we are proud to announce Air Traffic’s long-awaited North
American tour supporting Elbow as well as numerous headlining dates.
The band has garnered a phenomenal reputation for their extraordinary,
energetic and propulsive live shows as evidenced by their CMJ
appearances last year. See for yourself right here.

Hollywood, CA (June 18, 2007) - Pop music icon Prince will be taking up residency and bringing “3121″ exclusively to Thompson Hotels’, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel this summer, presented by Verizon Wireless. For possibly the last time in Los Angeles, the royal purple carpet will be rolled out for his Hollywood homecoming and the artist has chosen the legendary hotel for seven exclusive, intimate performances commencing Saturday, June 23rd, 2007.

Reminiscent to Prince’s legendary after hours parties in his Beverly Hills home, a select audience of 200 friends and fans will have an incredible opportunity to witness Prince firsthand in Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s Blossom Room, home of the first Academy Awards. Known for his spontaneity, Prince has frequently invited musicians onstage for impromptu performances. Past surprise guests have included Sir Elton John, Will.I.Am, Kelis, Sheila E., Herbie Hancock, Maroon 5 and more.

“The 3121 sessions at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel will offer admirers close-up and personal evenings with a musical legend,” states Jason Pomeranc, of Thompson Hotels. “We are honored and excited to host, both artists and guests alike, for this once in a lifetime experience inside the Roosevelt’s beautiful and historic, Blossom Room.”

At the 3121 sessions Prince will debut new music including “Guitar,” the first single from his much anticipated unreleased album, “Planet Earth.” 3121 guests can download “Guitar” right at the venue for free courtesy of Verizon Wireless’ new technology V CAST Song ID.

“When Prince, who has consistently been on the cutting edge of music, harnesses innovative technology to deliver his fresh new music, that’s a tremendous opportunity for music lovers,” said John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Verizon. “At Verizon, we’re committed to delivering powerful, direct and relevant music experiences and we are pleased to be executing on this through our relationship with Prince and the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.”

The evening will begin at the Dakota restaurant with Prince’s personal chef Lena Morgan presenting a VIP dinner, taking over the kitchen from executive chef Tim Goodell. Then the 130 special guests, along with another 70 standing room only attendees, will be welcomed into the Blossom Room for a musical performance like no other. Following every two-hour performance, fans can experience a late-night impromptu jazz set presided over by Prince.

Green Day Punks Up 'Simpsons' Theme Song

From Billboard.com:

In a new twist, the score soundtrack for the upcoming "Simpsons" movie, featuring Green Day's rendition of the show's famous theme, will be released simultaneously by three companies.

On July 24, three days before the film opens in U.S. theaters, Warner Bros. Records will put out the Green Day single (the band also appears in the film). Fox Music will make a digital score album available through its Web site and other outlets. And Extreme Music, usually known for its vast production music library, will release 25,000 pink doughnut cases to such specialty retailers as Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart and Barnes & Noble.

For traditionalists, jewel-cased CDs also will be available. "We really wanted to think outside of the box," Fox Music president Robert Kraft says. "'The Simpsons Movie' was a perfect vehicle to try a new approach."

The idea largely was the brainchild of Kraft and composer Hans Zimmer, who scored the film. "Hans has a great relationship with Extreme Music," Kraft says. "They are known for their creative packaging. The model of handing over a soundtrack or score to a traditional label and then hoping it does well is changing. This is a coordinated marketing effort of behalf of Extreme, the studio and Warner Bros. Records."
